…to the Transylvanian Trans-Silvanus Institute, Bible School and Missionary Training Center. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:1-3, KJV) We know that, even in the beginning, the Word existed, but how is it that we are to understand precisely what is meant by the term beginning? When something begins, it comes into being. Only when something is a new creation can we say that it truly begins. That is to say, that nothing which already exists can ever be said to begin, it can merely continue to exist. According to the apostle John, the word beginning is used to emphasize God’s primacy. God is first not only temporally, but also in significance. He and He alone, is first and as such, He wants to be first in all areas of our lives; in our discipleship, in our desire to learn, and in our education. If we seek Him first, not only will He direct our path, but He will also lovingly await us at our destination. Further, as all things exist through Him and nothing exists which He did not make, we honour Him by realizing that even our initial desire to serve Him and allow Him to accomplish His work through us has its origins, that is, its beginning, in Him. It is with this sentiment in mind that we lovingly extend to you this invitation for just such beginnings as these. Please join us in the fellowship of the disciples so that we may learn and follow Christ together. May the peace of God be with you, Levente Horváth, Director of the Trans-Silvanus Institute |
